About the association
The association was born from the desire of a group of believers to revive this neglected chapel and offer their contemporaries, and future generations, a welcoming setting that reconnects with the pilgrimages of yesteryear. For nearly 15 years, Laurent Gerber single-handedly cared for the chapel, supported by Father Joseph Goepfert and Mayors Befort and Elsaesser.
The meeting with Jean-Paul and Odette Herveau, as well as René Pierre, contributed to the creation of a preservation association. On July 7, 1990, a general assembly adopted the association's statutes, and it was registered with the Altkirch District Court on February 20, 1991. Currently, the association has about twenty members, from or residing in the surrounding villages of the Haut-Rhin and Territoire de Belfort departments, including several members of the founding group.

LEXICON
The Notre-Dame de Bellefontaine chapel is built on land owned by the parish council of the Church of Bréchaumont since the land consolidation of 1964, but it is privately owned (see correspondence of March 8, 2002, from the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Strasbourg). It is in this capacity that the association organizes and finances the exterior and interior maintenance of the chapel, excluding major structural work, which is the responsibility of the municipality of Bréchaumont (68210).
